More than 7000 challenger were looking forward to run the TUI Marathon in Mallorca at 9pm today. As I ran backwards, all the runners were running in my direction. I was accompanied by some runners of the television channel RTL, so 50minutes and 10km of pleasure were assured. It was no problem that the ex Big Brother Star Jürgen Milski finished 3 minutes before me and won our little backward challenge. More important than the result are the 15.000Euro which could be spent for the so called “RTL Spendenmarathon” by TUI. A nice thing for the kids who benefit from it.
Reports are broadcasted at “RTL Punkt 6,9,12” and in the evening news on the following Monday.

Pictures to the Mallorca Marathon
Today I started in Cologne although I knew even before the run that I will not be allowed to run up the dome. Nevertheless I had much fun. Together with my team-members Anna and Lisa I competed at the half marathon in Cologne. The girls, to run a personal best and me to support them by doing it. And yes I did it. Anna finished in 1:13:38h, third fastest time of a German runner this year, and third woman of this race. Lisa crossed the finish line after 1:17:02h. With my time of 1:13:41h I was number 17, yet.

Before taking the 866 steps, every athlete had to cover 150m. Flat and fast, then steep and much slower. 39 floors to the top at an altitude of 142m. Every 30s a new challenger was launched at the track. Because of my victory last year I was the last starter and I needed 3:46,57min for the challenge. It did not matter that I was the last one crossing the finish line, as only the race time is important for the final ranking. Today I was the fastest with more than 10s to the second. Tired but happy I got the winner cup in Milan for the third time in series.
After they have changed the race date, the competition will take place the upcoming sunday. This year, the runners will just have to race one tower, not like last year, when there have been two towers to race. The race will have 39 floors , 866 steps and an ascent of 142 meters. So you will definitely have to push from the start until reaching the to maybe in around 4 minutes.
Important competitions needs a good preparation, everyone knows that, everyone does that. For me it is also important to after prepare the competitions, that's call regeneration. In that period I train just for fun. Sometime nothing, sometimes twice a day and sometimes a take care of the weather. But there is not really bad weather. Just weather where there are not so many other people outside. So there is more place and space for me. Not even for my body, even more for my thoughts. As my body also my mind needs to recover... to be as fit as all the time at the next competitions.
